Brake Shoe Size 70 F250 Camper

Post by pandnh4 »

Fellow Truck Heads,

I have a 1970 F250 Camper Special with a rear wheel cylinder leak. Figured I would clean up everything when I'm in there with new shoes, cylinder and hardware. What I would like to know is what size shoe would be standard on this truck without tearing it apart first to measure. Most parts I've been able to locate are all based on shoe size. I'm guessing that they are 12 x 2.5 but would not want to order all these parts and find out otherwise. Same for the wheel cylinder bore. Most show a 15/16 but I would need to break em down first to be sure. Any help or insight would be most appreciated.

Thx,
Baltimore Mike,

Solved: finally pulled everything apart and apparently Camper Special came with the HD 12 x 2 1/2" shoes. Replaced all rear brake parts including the rear hose. Should have done the drum / axel seals when I had it apart but may be going back in again anyway. Brakes are still spongy after lots of bleeding.
