What would you do in this situation???

Post by 76Kroh »

Here is my delima  When I bought my 68 f100 it had been lowered by the last owner. A shackle flip in the rear (which is too much) and in the front they cut the coil springs and heat bent the I beams. I was reading in one of the forums heat bending it bad. On top of it it is lowered so much in the front that the I beams are hitting the cross member And it is making an annoying knocking over bumps! If you were faced with this what would you do? I like the lowered look but I may just raise it back up.

Heating beams has been done for a long time.... The early hot rodders did it and some are still doing it... It's okay so long as it is done correctly. The technique is to heat and stretch the crook btwn the horizontal part of the beam and the spindle mount.

I'd definitely replace those I-beams... the PO heated them in the wrong place to get a lowered stance. They are bent and equivalent to scrap metal.

Btw, this would be a justifiable "excuse" to swap in a set of discs.
