disc brake swap

Post by norm7406 »

im a professional tech but I have limited experience with ford. I have a 73 f100 that sat for years and is only good for parts and a 70 f100 I recently acquired and drive daily. they are both 2wd but the 73 has front disc, I was wondering if anyone know if the front spindles from the 73 will fit on the 70 to convert it to front disc brakes.

I did it too. Take the drum spindles off, put the disc spindles on. I'd recommend replacing the king pins and bushings while you've got it apart. You'll also need the dust shields, brake line brackets on the frame, the distribution valve and, the m/c and if equipped, the power brake booster brackets. Everything else is readily available at your local parts store.

Actually the entire I-beam will swap right over from the 73 to the 70. That way you would only have to fight with one set of king pins.
