rebuilding my p/s box

Post by fbomb100 »

well goes
well I pulled the power steering box , pump , column from my parts 71 truck as my 68 has a manual steering . I put it all in I only had to buy a hose $6 and I had the fluid and just some cleaning and a little paint. sounds good right! not !!!

well the box leaked bad and that was from just sitting! so I bought a seal kit and took it apart.

I needed to make this ..its a 2 1/2 x5" nipple so I could remove a nut ..saw on utube

well I had a bad valve housing bearing and had hell finding one !! but found one on evilbay

here it is all put back together

it was easy to put it and take it out as there is no front end on it... that's an other story !!

Good work! Thanks for the "exploded" view of the internals. Never actually seen the inside of one.

I have a leaky box too but I'm in scotland and parts aren't quite so easy to get here, where can I buy a complete seL kit for my box? Amazon or ebay might be easiest but any suggestions are welcome.
