What size socket for rear axle?

Hi Everyone,
The rear wheel cylinder finally blew. Since my neighborhood frowns on vehicles being left on jack stands, I need to have all necessary parts and tools before I tear everything apart. Can someone tell me what size socket(s) I should buy to remove the rear axle? One source says 2-3/8" and the other says 2-3/4". It is a 1970 F250 RWD with a Dana 60 3.73 differential. Any help would be appreciated.
1970 F250 CS: 360, RV cam, Edelbrock Performer 390 intake, Holley 600, headers, Pertronix II, Flamethrower coil.
