I have a 69 and a 71 f100. Both have 3-on-the-tree with manual steering. My 69 is my nicer truck and daily driver so it got my new steering wheel I received for Christmas. Thought I could use the steering wheel off of it on my 71 (that steering wheel was about to break apart and I have already discarded it). Well, I can use it, but I can't install the horn button as the shaft sticks up too far. Would I simply need to replace the shaft with one from an earlier year or is it something different about the column?
Not feeling the love for spending about $400 for a 71 steering wheel with horn pad just yet as this truck is used very sporadically.

Well, glad to know I wasn't going crazy on my install.
I am going to check my other shaft and see if it is the shorter style to avoid grinding off the existing shaft.
Thanks for the link.
