Subject says it all, does anyone have the info handy? I am looking to swap the frame out of the Beast, but I do not know what the wheelbase is supposed to be. The truck is a a Crewcab lwb. Does anyone know if the mid 90's frames would be the same length?
To avoid a few comments I know I am going to get otherwise, here is a bit more info. The PO replaced the rear section of frame...from just behind the cab. He did a straight cut on the frame and welded it back together. To give him credit, he used fish plates for reinforcements...but I have never liked this. I know where there is a 96 crewcab lwb that is being parted out, and I was thinking about swapping my bump body onto the later chassis. (my engine, trans, and transfer also.) This also gets me the later model front axle with disc brakes and power steering too!

Wheelbase for a crewcab bump?
When in doubt, hit the gas. It may not be the right answer, but at least it ends the suspense!!

Re: Wheelbase for a crewcab bump?
I can't help you determine if a 96 frame will work, but the crew cab wheelbase measurements are 151 for the F250 (short box) and 167 for the F350 (long bed).
The crew cabs were 36 inches longer than the standard cabs. I know nothing of the later frames, but I know that even if you get a good wheelbase, you are probably going to run into issues with the frame width lining up with the bumpside cab, bed, bumper, and other parts. The width of the trucks is going to be quite a bit different more than likely.
Good luck!

Re: Wheelbase for a crewcab bump?
I would say that even though they are similair they are probably worlds apart. I mean we are talking over 20 years worth of re-egineering .I would even venture to say that even though they are both fords, the 96 could be a different as a dodge or chevrolet. I mean I could be off base. I work with a fleet of 96 era ford econolines and trucks and im thinking of more ways they are dissimilair than similair to the 67-72s. But depending on your skill level anything is possible.Calfdemon wrote:I can't help you determine if a 96 frame will work, but the crew cab wheelbase measurements are 151 for the F250 (short box) and 167 for the F350 (long bed).

Re: Wheelbase for a crewcab bump?
CALFDEMON, THANKS!!! That is exactly what I needed! (Actually forgot I posted it, been stupid busy at work for months!)
1972HIBOYand CalfDemon, Well, it might be way off, and it may not. FoPAR on this board is swapping a 72 onto a 2002 frame. If I remember right, the front cab bolts lined up! bizarre, right? He had to fab for the rear ones, and the bed was a serious PITA if I remember his build thread right. Guess I will find out when I find a bleeding frame!
Thanks guys!
