NP 435 tower

Post by 1 Crummyshooter »

I have trouble with the shift lever retainer on my 435. Don't remember exactly what broke. just that I cobbled something together to keep it in the hole. Anyone know a source for an exploded view of the tower, and/or a parts source. It's 100 miles to a wreckin' yard.
Due to the high cost of ammunition, you can no longer expect a warning shot.

When someone was beating on my door hollering "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms", I naturally assumed it was a delivery.

The shift lever is retained into the "socket" of the shift tower by a 1/4 turn stamped steel retainer. I use a pair of channel lock pliers to kind of grip the outer surface of the retainer and while pushing down against the spring tension, rotate your pliers counter clockwise 1/4 turn and the retainer should pop up and allow you to pull the shifter out. Be sure to do this in neutral.
