Am working on my rear brakes on a new purchase, 69 f250 2x4. According to the Ford shop manual, the anchor pin above the wheel cylinder should go thru the carrier plate (I call it back plate) from the backside, with the nut on the inside of the drum. When I disassembled the brake assembly, the pin was installed thru all of the "guts" then thru the carrier plate with the nut on the backside of the plate opposite of the shop manual dwg. The brake assy on the opposite side is the same as this one.
Question: does it matter?
The brakes on this truck are horrible that is one reason I am into them. The wheel cylinder was bad so I got a new one. The brakes shoes are new along with the hardware kit. Someone was in there not too long ago but the cylinder was leaking badly. I don't know if the anchor pin was removed but I do see channel lock marks on the round head. Thanks in advance for the comments.

Re: Rear brakes
Not exactly sure what you're referring to but here's how they're supposed to be. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... ont_01.jpg

Re: Rear brakes
Thank you for the info. However, I am referring to the Bendix page 12 x2 1/2" etc. part number 2027. The page looks like my brake setup. The pin 2027 is coming thru the backside of the carrier plate. I believe this is how I want to put it together but it's not how I took it apart. I'm thinking somebody put it together wrong at some time. Just looking for feedback from others before I put it together and maybe have to take it apart again. Thanks.

Re: Rear brakes
All of the ones I did the nut was on the backside of the abcking plate. the pins head was just the right size to be the anchor for the cable that runs to the star wheel.
