Odd Noises after engine swap heard
Alright so I just put in a brand new 347 stroker motor with 435 hp and 427 ft.lb torque. Previously I had a slightly improved 302 (Holley carb w/ eidlebrock intake)
In preparation for the swap I couldn't afford a new transmission, the plan is to buy one soon after however in the meantime I bought a better flexplate (ended up being the wrong size) and a better torque converter to help the transmission out (but we ended up screwing the torque converter up while trying to get it to line up with the flexplate)
Friday I got it back from the muffler shop and I started noticing a noise that I hadn't heard before with the old engine much like described in another post whenever i accelerate I hear the noise get louder and whenever I slow to a stop I no longer hear it. The truck never made this noise prior to the engine swap so I'm not sure what it could be
If it's any help I haven't heard it while Reving in neutral or park (though I haven't openly listened for it)
In the post I read it mentioned to check wheel bearings and the driveshaft, seeing as the noise started after I put the new engine in I don't see how this could be the problem but I'll give it a try.

No we replaced a bearing several years ago in the drive shaft

Re: Odd Noises after engine swap heard
Ok so I just got home from work and as I was driving home I kinda listened closer and found that I only hear the noise when pressing the accelerator if I let off the gas the noise ceases but once I hit the gas it resumes making the noise and the higher in the rpms I go the louder it gets, still haven't tried this on neutral as I discovered I had a fluid leak in one of my heater hoses

If only when accelerating I would focus on the dive shaft and rear end. I Don't see it coming from the front end.

Re: Odd Noises after engine swap heard
does the noise seem more like engine speed or wheel speed? how would you describe the noise? a low tone thumping, a metal tinging sound?

Re: Odd Noises after engine swap heard
Definitely not timing rattle I investigated it further and was able to pin point it on the passenger side of the engine bay,
I had the truck in park and was adjusting the throttle via the carb to get a better idea of where it was coming from.. The noise is like a mild humming noise I guess would best describe it the more I pushed the throttle on the carb the louder it got.
Just a note it doesn't sound like a belt squeal its a constant note the only variation is the loudness of the "hum" Which increases as the rpms increases

Disconnect the alternator belt start it up and see if the noise is still there
