need quick assist

Post by BrockGrimes »

I'm replacing the front wheel bearings on my 69 f100.
What's the tq value for the nut on the front?
A shop manual download would be great.

Based on the thread i tq'd it to 25ftlb. I can still turn it and its nice and tight no wobble. My outer wheel bearing on the driver side shelled out it was just pieces. I had to swap the race as well. All good now, I hope. Thanks for the link.

Here's a quote from the '71 service manual:

"Front wheel spindle Nut and Retainer: Torque to 17-25 Ft-lbs while rotating the drum. Install nut so prong on retainer lines up with cotter pin hole in spindle. Back off both nut and retainer to second slot and insert cotter pin. Back off equivalent to 1-1/2 castellations."

Hope that helps...
