C-4 trans cooler size

I have a 67 F100 with a C-4. At some point someone installed a small cooler in front of the radiator. My question is, how big does this cooler need to be? It looks too small to me. It is maybe 6" X 9". My radiator does have cooler lines, but they are not hooked up. I am thinking of trying to blow them out and use them so I can get rid of the extra cooler. My cooler lines need to be replaced anyway.

It's a very good idea to run an aux automatic transmission cooler in series with the oil cooler of the radiator.

The supply line should run from the transmission to the cooler of the radiator, out the other side of the radiator and into the aux cooler, out the other side of the aux cooler and back to the return side of the transmission.

I have a Ford OEM plate type transmission cooler on my '69 F-100 (240/C4). I robbed it off a V-8 '92 Ford F-150 in the wrecking yard for $10.00.

Plate type oil coolers are more efficient than fin type.

It measures 11" x 6" x 1-1/2".

Thanks, I did not think od running both. I took off my trans cooling lines today and plan to see what my parts store has. I was told to buy straight tubes and bend them myself.

That is what I did --bought a straight length of 5/16" tubing and bent the lines to plumb between the aux cooler to the in-radiator cooler.

I had to cut the flare off the tubing on one end of the factory lines, slide an inverted flare fitting on, re-double flare the line and then install an inverted flare union, going from the aux cooler back to the return line of the transmission.
