Crown Vic IFS VS Ford Aerostar

Post by 68FordF100Denkers »

New to the board and have been looking for days and days on what route to go. I just picked up a 68 Ford F100 and am looking to get modern suspension under the front end and disc brakes all the way around. I keep find Crown Vic IFS is the way to go and at the same time not the way to go because of the backspacing issues and overall width. I am told by a local car guy he uses ford aerostars suspension with a 8.8 out of an explorer. I keep going back and forth on which route to go. Any suggestions or comments would be awesome! The other thing I am hoping to achieve is the 5x4.5 lug pattern and something I don't have to have a wacky offset for wheels. Thanks in advance!

I searched a lot for aerostar swaps and could not find any

the angle on the steering rack is higher than a Crown Vic

crown vic brakes are bigger
brake parts are cheaper

they quit building aerostars in 98 good luck finding one where all the bushings are not dry rotted out

explorer axles seem to be the most popular to swap in the rear disc brake/ posi/3.73 gear /31 spline axles (= tough )
