hi guys,
i have a clutch fork/throw out bearing fork question
i have a 68 fork truck with a 6 and a 3 speed.
the engine is blown to pieces so im in the middle of an engine swap.
im going to put a new clutch in it be for it goes back in.
here is my question.
the clutch for the 68 has a 3 finger pressure plate and a clip on throw out bearing.
the clutch i want to use in it is the later model multi finger / diaphragm style with a slip on throw out bearing.
i would say about an 84 or 85 year make.
what do i need to do to put the later model throw out bearing in it.
will it slip in the old fork, or do i need to try and find a later model fork and put it in the old trani.
thanks guys and any input would be great

Re: 3 speed clutch fork question
I stuck with the 3 finger levered one. It seems to be stronger than the multi fingered variety. The configuration of the clutch fork mounting/operation in the bell housing, as well as the "push" instead of "pull" operation of the clutch will make it difficult to use a different clutch configuration unless you swap to a different bell housing and modify your clutch pedal. I could be wrong and some other member may have done it but I've replaced the clutch in mine a couple of times as well as mid 80's Fox Body Mustang's and I don't see it as being an easy mod.
