Interesting My water outlet looks completely different. I've got a 71 360. I replaced it with a new one when I discovered it was welded. You're welcome to my old one if you're interested. It's pictured here. Not much of a lip.
Here's the replacement I got from NAPA. It actually has a decent lip. It might be worthwhile just replacing yours with new. I don't recall it being expensive.
Cheers,
Duane

Yes, mine looks like duaneo's, I like the new one, maybe I will try the one from napa. It looks nice and thick, I thought a new would be thin and cheesy looking. Thanks everyone for your time. Kevin

Re: 360 thermostat housing needed
As a teenager, I put a MR Gasket chrome water outlet on my Chevy. Within a couple of months, it sprung a leak from a thin spot. As a result, thickness was a primary concern with this one. It seems thick enough that I won't have the same problem I did all those years ago.
I did make quite an impression changing my water outlet in a friend's driveway when we had a long drive ahead.
One thing to consider. The gasket that came with it failed immediately. I don't know if I somehow had it on wrong, but It leaked as I was filling the system up. Interestingly the gasket that came with my engine worked just fine, and it didn't look significantly different from the one I replaced. I don't know if you'll have the same experience, but I thought I'd mention it. It may be worth a couple of bucks to consider picking up an extra gasket at the parts store, just in case.
Cheers,
Duane
