'71 F500 Parking Brake

Post by tsherry »

Anyone replace/rebuild the parking brake on a '71 or so F500? This is a drum-mounted brake that surrounds I believe the driveshaft just rear of the tranny. Mine is currently there for looks. I'd like to rebuild it but haven't delved into the innards. Any insight here?
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

It's been 35 years since I worked on these, but from my foggy memory I think it's similar to rear drum brakes without the hydraulics. I do remember they never did work very well and I didn't trust them.
