Does anybody know?

Post by 79BlueGoose »

I have a 1979 ford f150 with a big block 460. I am wanting a zf 5 speed manual transmission. I have a np205 gear drive transfer case. I found a good transmission with the slave cylinder still mounted to it and th master cylinder set off to the side for $300. The only problem that i can think of while doing this setup would be trying to mount my np205 to the zf 5 speed transmission. Does anybody know of an adapter plate to fit my np205 to a zf 5 speed transmission?

I did a bit of research into ZF's although small block ZF's ,the NP205 "should " bolt up to any Ford ZF with the ford 4x4 tail housing but depending on the t case's origonal location and the Bolt circle timing of the tail housing a timing ring might be needed.I would also check front drive line to transmission slave cyl. clearance .So a ZF out of a 4x4 460 powered truck would be best but a 4x4 tail housing should not be too hard to acquire and timing rings are easy to find. :2cents:

The 205 will bolt up to the 4wd ZF. You do not want a 2wd ZF unless you are going with a divorced transfer as it is not as simple as swapping the tail housing. The output shaft would have to be changed as well and that involves opening up and disassembling the ZF which is no simple task.
