Flexplate question

Post by CV1186 »

Ok guys,
I need some input here. I recently finished rebuilding my 302 and I am getting ready to get it back into the truck. When I disassembled everything I marked it all with either white paint or a discreet scribe mark, all that is except the flexplate to crank orientation. Now I know that flexplate has a particular orientation because of the external weight, but I cant find any reference to it in any of my manuals. I'm hoping that someone knows the answer thank you in advance.

The flexplate will only bolt on in one spot. Keep turning the flexplate on the crank until all of the bolt holes line up.

To further that, it will only bolt on facing the right way. If you've flipped it around 6 times, and it's still not going on, make sure you have it facing the right way.

I had my old flex plate with me, and still completely had it backward. That was a frustrating half hour.

Cheers,
