All: The tag on my transmission has the following:
top line: PFB F
2nd line 012406
The transmission casing has C8AP-7006-C cast into it.
Can anyone id this transmission- Cruise-O-Matic? or ? Does the number cast into the casing indicate it is a 1968 model?
Thx. Jeff

BobbyFord: Yes cast iron case, removable aluminum bellhousing.
Does Casting number tell anything about year?
Tag number not listed in Fordification transmission id tables, so I'm curious what PFB F indicates? Any ideas?
Thx. Jeff

I looked in my 69 shop manual and didn't find anything close. Try researching it from a car enthusiast website, I wonder if that box was installed behind an FE in a Galaxie or Fairlane?

Can't find the exact tag number but everything PFB here is a COM...> http://www.fordification.com/tech/trans ... trucks.htm
If it were mine I'd replace it with a truck C6.
