I think these trucks came with G78-15 tires with some H78-15s.

I've had 235s before but not 265s.

Check this site for actual diameters to give you an idea:

Looks like almost 2 inches difference in diameters so little under a 1 inch radius increase over 235s.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)

Yuup.. my 70 still has a bias ply G78-15 as the very vintage spare. It is surprisingly in good condition.

Man, those bias ply jobs were a long way from today's tires even though my GTO made it about 10 MPH past buried on Polyglas tires once - Only once. I survived on plain, old dumb luck, I suppose. Ahhh, to be invisible and bulletproof again!

I believe the stock wheels were 16.5 or 16's. I am running 235 85s on my 68 CS. It had 16.5 stock wheels and I went to 16s.

hmm i think it was 16.5 on the 3/4 and 1 ton, and we had 15's on the 1/2 ton w/ 5x5.5

my wheels were long ago replaced by what appear to be OEM CJ-7 steel spokes, so i'm not sure.

there is quite a bit of room all around 235/75x15 so i'm guessing the 265 will clear.
