Remove that nut, slide the yoke out. Pop out the seal and out a new one in. Coat the rubber on the seal with trans fluid before reinstalling and make sure the yoke is clean. The hard part is getting the nut broke loose and retorqueing it without the yoke spinning. You really should have something to bolt to the yoke to hold a backup on it.

Have a look inside the seal, if there's a garter spring, be sure to pack the void with Vaseline before driving the seal in. Those springs can pop loose and wreak havoc inside the trans, or make the seal lose tension and it bails fluid all over the place.

Doe's anyone know the correct torque for the 1.5 inch nut pictured above. When I took the cotter key out of the nut it was just over finger tight, Thanks

Are you sure that's a C6? My shop manual lists a torque spec for, "Yoke to Output Shaft," for the C4, but has a - for the C6. At any rate, the spec there is 60-80 Ft-Lbs. Is the fluid pan a full square? If so, that's a C4. The C6 has another square jutting towards the back halfway across the pan in the rear.

Its a C6 I will also be posting pics of the new seal vs old one. Had to take the extended Housing off to pound out the old seal. Also made it easier to put the new one in. Thanks
