Engine, tranny, t-case swap

Post by stink bear »

Hello,
I am thinking about trying to make my truck more drivable.
I have a 72 F100 short bed 4x4 with a 240 6 cyl.
I would like an EFI 302, a 5 speed tranny, and a 2 speed t-case. I'm thinking about trying to find a late 80's donor truck with the 302, a ZF tranny, and a BW1356 t-case and swapping everything over.
From my research so far I figure I would have to change motor mounts (don't know yet if the donor truck mounts would work), modify the fuel system, mount an ECU somewhere, and swap the radiator.
For the tranny I would need to move the cross member aft and convert to a hydraulic clutch.
For the t-case I would have to notch the frame.
Drive shafts would probably need to be modified.
I would want to change the axle gear ratios to some thing like a 3.55 or 3.73
If anyone has any input on this I would like to hear it.
I would like to have a pretty good idea of what I'm getting into before I make any decisions.
The other option is a 302 (EFI or carbed), NP435, and NP205 with a gear swap. I may just decide to keep it simple.
Thanks
