It's been a while, so I thought I'd better get an update in. Been working on the cab corners that my buddy Don from Oregon sent me. Got the pass. side apart, man is this thing in good shape. So, I'll be using the OEM sheet metal on the corner, instead of the Dennis Carpenter sheet metal.

the inner on the pass. side is the reason I got these, since mine are toast. The pass. side is almost perfect, just needs blasted and coated, then welded in.

Passenger side cleaned up and ready for coating. It has a little bit of pitting on the inside of the panel, but it's not too bad.

The driver side is a whole other story. Some buffoon decided to cut and hammer back a section, then weld a frickin' exhaust hanger to the outside sheet metal! It was a bear getting the inner and outer sections apart. I'm going to try and save the outer panel for reuse, it's going to take some work, though.

The inner panel will definitively be saved. After some hammer and dolly work, a little time in the sandblast cabinet, and then some welding, it looks pretty good. Just need to dress the welds a little more, then the inner panel is ready for coating and installation.

Both corners off. That's the last thing that had to come off of the cab, Hallelujah! I did have to make a small patch on the passenger side inner corner, also.

Since it was so nice over the weekend, I was able to get POR-15 on the iside sections of the cab. This is now ready for the inner and out cab corners to go back on.

The outer panel is trimmed up, and ready to be cleaned up, for coating on the inside.

I did find some pin holes in the bottom of the cab corner panel, and since I'm not going to use my DC cab corners, I used them for patches. So, cut out what I needed, and patched it together.

The reason I decided to not use the DC cab corner panels is that they do not fit very well with the OE sheet metal. The vertical channel isn't as wide as the factory sheet metal, and would have required extensive work to match it up. As it was, I had to work over the patch I used, just to get it to fit with the original corner panel. I was really expecting more from Dennis Carpenter.

Good work! I noticed that when I replaced my passenger side. Matched it up and blended it the best I could. Since it won't really be seen with my style side bed I can live with it. I expected better from DC too.

I totally agree with you both, Pat and Randy. Noticed the same issue with my DC cab corners. I ended up taking the "extensive rework" route, but Pat you're doing great with those decent OEM corners - great progress, man!!

Thanks Randy, Tyler! The other side will take a major excavation. Weird thing is, the other side channel is the right size, but the panel doesn't line up properly with all the body lines. So, I'll be using that as a patch also.
