Replacing speedometer cable

Post by 91Bear »

How involved is this task and about how long should it take? Do you have to remove the rubber mat and side scuff plates?

Mine runs through the firewall and down tot he trans. There is enough room to reach behind the cluster and disconnect it, then unscrew from the tranny. Mine was in two pieces, wasn't supposed to be. My replacement hasn't happened yet. Found out one of my bands in the tranny is broken, time to pull it!
New guy here with a 67. Rebuilt auto, fresh rebuild on the 352, new tank, new radiator, doing glass soon and disk brakes!

Unscrew cable from tranny and help it to the engine compartment, then it can be nearly a straight shot from the loosened cluster (a few screws)..should have enough room to work behind it without unplugging everything, IIRC.
