72 f350 crewcab single rear wheel to dual rear wheel

Hey guys, now that im almost complete in accumlating parts for my f350 cc srw im starting to think about the direction in which I'm wanting this to go. Its a 72 f350 long bed cc srw. I have a 79 HP 60 front axle and I was thinking of using the exsisting dana 70 rear axle. I was going to do a 4x4 conversion with a cummins and a 5-speed. ( cliche as it might be I plan on having the truck for a long time ) I had originally figured i'd keep it srw but if I find with a large enough cabover camper I may want to go drw. As far as the rear end is it just as simple as installing 72 f350 drw wheel studs into the srw hub assembly's? and as for the front I think I would just have to buy the 79 f350 drw front 4x4 hub and possibly track down brake componets as needed if they use a different caliper or different caliper mounting bracket? is that it? obviously buying the wheels. I know some of you guys have long bed crews that are 4x4 and DRW. Input would be appreciated and have a great day!

Maybe I'm missing the boat but what is CC SRW? Crew cab something? How about DRW?

My apologies.Let me clarify any confusion. I was abreviating, CC for crewcab, SRW for Single Rear Wheel and DRW for Dual Rear wheel.

IMHO I would find a pair of front dually adapters from a 94-2002 dodge, as they just bolt on using the factory wheel studs. Stud size might be different

Just came across this thread while searching for something else, but I believe I can help answer some questions.

For the front, you will only need to source a hub and rotor assembly. The calipers, pads and caliper brackets are all the same. The hub and/or the rotor may also be the same, but I'm not 100% sure without some research. I used a DRW F350 spindle, caliper bracket, and caliper on my F250, and just purchased new "F350 SRW" rotors. Heavy duty F250 assemblies are the same as F350s. I just noticed that we are talking 4wd and I was speaking of 2wd...but I'm pretty sure it all still applies.

For the rear, DRW axles are a different width normally, so it depends on where you want the wheels to end up, but the wheels will bolt on with a change to longer DRW wheel studs.

Needs spacers on rear to get wheels out far enough so there not touching springs. On factory duallys the rear hubs stick out further to compensate for the total offset dually wheel. The front you just need to run a set of brakes and hubs from a dually if you want to run the dually wheels.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. Its been awhile since I posted this but sooner or later someone else is going to ask this too. So it sounds like simply you need the hubs studs brakes ect from dually axles. I think a crewcab longbed bump would look pretty sweet as a 4x4 dually setup. I think member here has his setup that way, "TAC" i think is his screename.

Thanks for the clarification Greg! I wasn't sure if the wheels would hit the springs. I've seen people use SRW axles and run dual wheels who wanted to tuck the tires in more, I just haven't tried myself.
