Crew Cab parts

Post by ltharper »

I need the middle headliner trim piece, 1 rear door handle cover, bezel thing. I am also looking a '68 grille for cheap. I may just try to straighten mine. Also would like a stock rear view mirror.

The middle headliner trim is a piece you are going to have a very hard time finding. They are very hard to come by, and if you get one, they are made of 40+ year old plastic and are very brittle and more than likely going to be broken. I had one and actually sold it to another crew cab owner because I am using metal for mine. As a substitute, what I am doing and what other CC owners have done as well is get another set of the back headliner trim pieces (the pair that go closest to the back window) of any bumpside truck. You can put these two together and using some small self tapping screws, you can screw these pieces up to the original mounting clip as a metal center headliner trim piece. It is the same length and dimension as the original plastic piece. The only difference is that the ends of the metal pieces "fork" to make room for the corner screws in the standard headline trim design. You can fab some covers to go over these pieces or run them with the fork in it. Either way.

As for the rear door plastic handle "cover", that is another piece you are going to have a hard time finding. Again, being plastic, a lot of them got broken and with the rarity of crew cabs, it is a hard piece to come by. I have heard that this same piece was also used in older Econoline vans and possibly can be obtained going that route, but again, that is only what I have heard. They do not reproduce the part and I have yet to see one in an old Econoline. So take it for what its worth. Luckily, I have both of my original pieces, but have kept an eye out for any I might come across and in 3 years of looking, I have never seen any.

Good luck in your search! I am not trying to dissuade you, just telling you about those 2 parts and the quest you are on to get them. If you find them and they are what you are looking for, jump on them. I have kept my eye out for them as well for the sole purpose of making them available to members like you who are looking for them. But again, I have yet to find them and I did give up my stock headliner strip to another member since I was not going to use it.

Lastly, if you are looking for a grille, you might want to let everyone know where you are located since it is such a large piece. Most do not want to ship a grille but if someone is close enough to you, you may get a response.

I have a nice 69 grille in So California, but I am one of those that will not ship a piece that size. If you are close, we might be able to work something out, but I was saving it just in case I ever wanted to go back to the 69 grille. I am going to be running a 72 grille with billet inserts.

I'm located in Eastern NC so I imagine the shipping on that item would be outrageous, but thanks!
