I've developed a transmission fluid leak over the last several days. It's getting worse pretty quick and is towards the front so assuming its the front main seal. Is it pretty straightforward to replace?
Drop transmission, remove torque converter, remove seal, replace seal and put it all back. Any tips? just had the transmission serviced 6 months ago so can I recycle the fluid? What other maintenance should I perform when the transmission is dropped?
Oh, I have a 1968 F100 Automatic Transmission. Pretty sure its the C6
Kicking myself because I had the motor out last Spring and could have replaced the seal then but just didn't think to do it until it was too late

Re: Transmission Seal replacement
You got it pretty much. Check the sleeve inside the pump and torque converter for scoring and wear. There is also a O ring around the pump that could, but not likely leaking. Personally, I wouldn't reuse the fluid. If it is clear and doesn't have any metal in it, you're probably ok if on a budget. C6 on the 360's 390's, C4 on the 289's 302's.

Re: Transmission Seal replacement
Thanks for the tips. I will most likely pick up new fluid when I get my seals
