Differential numbers possible 9 3/8

Post by Amero »

So i have a new to me anyway 1972 f100 4x4. The party i purchased it from said it had a heavy differential not the standard 9" rear. the numbers on the differential are D2TW-4688-A. said it was a limited slip 3.5. Anyone know where i can verify those numbers at? Thanks in advance.

P.S. Scraping the gunk off to get to the numbers, the color of the differential cover was yellow with a "ford" stamp on it.

If the top horizontal rib curves downward on the drivers side of the 3rd member, it would be a 9-3/8" 3rd member. If it is a 9-3/8", it will have 31-spline axles and a Traction-Lok differential.
