How to tell yoke style on 9"?

Post by reklawpj »

How can I find out what style yoke I have on my '67 352 F100 C/S with a 9" 3.25? Rear axle code 17.

Looking at getting a Moser or Currie bolt-on third member w/Traction Lock, there are three yoke options available, 1310, 1330 and 1350. How can I tell what I have? I looked in the tech section but I didn't find anything about yokes there.

Thanks.

There are 1350 yokes available but, I'm not sure if any factory 1350 yokes were produced. The majority of stock Ford yokes I'm aware of are of the 1310 or 1330 series.

The majority of 1310 and 1330 yokes have 1-1/16" diameter U-joint cups but, there are also factory U-joint yokes with 1-1/8" diameter cups so, you would need to measure your current cup diameter or the width of the yoke where the cup would seat into it.

The majority of yokes come with 28-splines (where the yoke slips onto the stem of the input of the pinion gear) but, there are also some 31-spline yokes. Truck 9-inch yokes are shorter than passenger car 9-inch yokes. The truck yoke is approximately 4 inches in length. Passenger car yokes are approximately 5 inches in length.

A 1310 yoke is 3-7/32" across, where the cups seat into the flange of the yoke. The width of the 1330 yoke is 3-5/8" across.

Do the yokes swap between pinion shafts? As in: are all (most all?) factory ford 9" pinion shafts the same length, spline, etc?

I'm thinking my input shaft bearings are gonner. I'm looking at swapping a 3rd member but i'm not sure what yoke it has on it, and i'd like to avoid mucking around with different u-joints/driveshafts any more than i have to.

The yokes are interchangeable. There are some 31-spline yokes but the majority are 28-spline.
