Proportioning valve for disc brakes
I am swapping a Dana 44 with disc brakes into my 70 F250 4x4. I bought a proportioning valve out f a 72 F250 with discs, but noticed a few differences between the one in my 70 for the drum and the one for the discs. My 70 valve has two lines to the front brakes , one to the rear, and two from the master cylinder, but the donor valve from the 72 only has two from the master cylinder and one to the front brakes and one to the rear. I think it will still work, but on the donor valve there is no indication of front and rear lines, so I wanted to see if anyone has any experience or picts of the proportioning valve for a disc brake set up. Thanks

Re: Proportioning valve for disc brakes
I may have figured it out. It seems that the four line connection is just a distribution assembly, and the proportioning valve is further down the front brake's line, splitting it off to the two front brakes.

Re: Proportioning valve for disc brakes
If you had a photo of the components you are talking about, I could probably determine what it is. By your description of it, it sounds like it's a metering/hold-off valve for front discs.
If the device was a factory (external) proportioning valve, it would be plumbed into the line leading to the rear brakes --like the stand-alone factory proportioning valves that were used on the '65/'66 Mustangs that came with factory Kelsey-Hayes 4-piston front calipers and stock rear drums.
