Similar style from '03-2013. Late 90's-'02 is so-so. I've got a bid on one on EvilBoy right now. We'll see how that goes. If that doesn't fly, I've got a line on some through car-part.com. I'll update here as more develops.

So got the seat slides disassembled. Driver's seat outer was a real PITA. It was frozen solid. After some PB Blaster and systematic tapping back and forth, it finally got to where I could get a ball bearing out and then finally got it apart. Spent about 20 mins with a wire wheel on one piece and decided to break about the blaster instead. After spraying about 80# of Black Diamond all over the back yard, they came clean. A good coat of POR-15 and some gloss black and these babies are ready to go back together once the paint cures.

While I was waiting got the springs, nylon slides and ball bearings cleaned up.

Gonna have to get new hardware but I think these'll work good now. Hopefully, I'll get some time next week to reassemble.

Thanks jimmy! I try to do something, anything, every week or two. If I dont, I start having withdrawal symptoms.

I have used lots of Black Diamond in my yard then switched to West Texas Blow sand cause it's FREE. Still haven't figured out why my grass died. :hmm:

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild-Got the console!

Post by sargentrs »

:woohoo: Got it! A little more than I wanted to pay but for $125 (free shipping), and it fits my needs, it's worth it. I'll repaint the plastic/steel parts and recover the vinyl to match the buckets. I'll probably remove the head rest when I get it recovered to stick with the low back scheme and lose the "bump" in front when it's in console mode, which will be most of the time.

Thanks, guys! The seat belt was one of the big selling points. Would have been difficult to rig one if it didn't have it.

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild-Seat slides done!

Got the slide pieces all cleaned up and put back together. A good lube with white lithium grease and they slide like new (thank goodness the pitted part won't be seen). Another piece of the jigsaw puzzle done!

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild-I love my paint booth!

Post by sargentrs »

40* outside, 55* in the basement and a toasty 75* in the paint booth. 2 coats Rust Encapsulator and a good coating of gloss black. Once the paint dries I'll do a test fit on the seats and the console and figure out how I'm going to mount the jump seat.
