I need to replace the passenger side I Beam bushing ( actually located on the drivers side). It has rotted out and definitely could be replaced. The bumpers on the frame that the I Beam hits when bottoming out also are falling to pieces. Is this something that should get immediate attention or replace when its convenient and how do I need to do the repair ( general idea)? Should I be able to find parts at a local auto parts shop or do I need to order them?

I replaced mine with these from Energy Suspension. Just remove the old rubber and leave the metal sleeves in the I-beam. Clean up the sleeves and these will slide right in. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ens-4-3124g/overview/

The parts stores should be able to get them easily if they don't have them in Stock. They won't have poly bushings in stock though, only rubber. The I - beam bushing should be taken care of pretty soon because it affects alignment, handling, and can promote tire wear. The bump stops can be left for a while if you don't bottom the suspension out often or very hard over bumps. The Energy Suspension and Prothane polyurethane bushings are a good upgrade, but can sometimes squeak if they aren't lubed quite a bit. It depends on their design and placement and I don't know if the I - beam is one of them that is prone to squeaking. The poly bushings may be a little easier for the homeowner without a press to install, since the sleeve is left in and not pressed out. I opted for poly bushings, but have yet to install them. My radius arm bushings are worn out too.

The Energy Suspension bushings are supposed to be poly-graphite and not prone to squeaks. I replaced my radius arm and leaf spring bushings with them too. All were good quality, perfect fit and easy install.

I've got them bookmarked so I can order them soon, thanks for the info. Could the worn bushing be causing a shaky truck at 55 mph or is that likey something else?

That's a possibility. How's your radius arm bushings? You gotta consider, between the axle pivot bushings, radius arm bushings, coil springs and leaf spring bushings are the only connections between the road, the tires and the frame. Weakness in any of those 4 areas directly affects how your truck steers and rides.

I'll check all of those out also and make sure that they are not falling to pieces. Going over draw bridges is not too fun either as the truck sways in the lane your in.
