It wasn't specifically part of the Farm and Ranch Special package, nor is it really rare or anything....but it IS a nice setup, as long as it's working. I don't suppose by any chance that truck still has the factory sideboards on it, does it? I'd LOVE to get some good pictures of those, but I'm not holding my breath. ;) Does your truck still have the special decal on the cowl panel in good shape?

Sounds like you have the t85n Borg Warner.....I am rebuilding one as we speak. I am waiting for a new freewheel clutch assembly, after that it goes back together. If it works hang on to it because it is a strong transmission that provides 30% OD and can be wired for gear splitting if you choose.

This should give you all of the info you need,

I wonder if the Farm and Ranch or contractor's specials were available on the crewcab models.

the contractors special would have been a good deal for someone if it were a crewcab.

None of the factory literature mentions them being available on crewcabs....but then again, I guess they don't specifically exclude them, either. The simply say the options were available on F100 and F250 4x2s with 8-ft beds. However, I'm guessing they weren't offered with crewcabs.

IF you want to fix yours, I got all the parts I needed to repair my T85 from these guys....They had just about everything for the T85n.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the link!! I've been running one in my F100 for around 10 years and it's great other than the non-sincronized first gear--but you get use to it. I was having trouble getting parts back then--good to see that some are offered now!! Just in case!!!

FYI: 1st is not synchronized because the gear ratio is so low.

Can you imagine shifting into 1st gear while doing 10,15-20+ mph!

That's why, so be grateful!

Well, my factory 3 speed top loader was sincro'd in first, and the first gear in the T-85N is only 3to1 as I recall. I thought they were the same--I should point out that these are not grannie or compound low transmissions. I've even had my 6 banger to 30 in first--didn't like it but it would do it(actually it will go higher than that, had it to almost 40 this morning on the way to work).
Anyway, I have a 300 so I can just dump it in second if I'm doing anything over a couple of miles an hour. But sometimes at that speed it would be nice to hit first. With the non-sincro don't even think about it--
