Sarge! Looking freakin' awesome dude! Also looking familiar . Seems like light years ago when I did this. You may not want to put that peel n seal on your roof as the hot sun may turn it into a mess. Pinche mat has held up to the hot Texas sun all summer long and sure made it quiet...

Thats not a bad idea! I used the same type of stuff on the southwest corner of my house between the insulation and the outside wall and it was great. It formerly was the hottest spot in the house and now is the coolest place to be in the summer.

So a couple of pages back I posted pics of where I painted my cab, doors and such. Wellll....pictures can be deceiving. That day, while wet, everything looked great. It was only after it dried that the ugly showed up. I sanded with 600g, followed by 1500g and proceeded to buff and polish for the final glossy shine. The failure of such is detailed in this other post http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =7&t=73463 I won't bore ya'll with repeating it here. To continue, at one point I had sanded through my paint and exposed a little white streak of primer. So a couple of weeks ago, I sprayed my door jambs and repainted that part of my dash. Here's the ugly I mentioned

Note the massive orange peel. So after it cured I started sanding again and the OP came out remarkably easy.

A little more and that'll be ready to polish. Are you using reducer? What temperature? How far are you from your surface? Looks like you may have too much paint coming through the gun but I'm not positive. Maybe try turning the needle in a little.

I remember those days... Air pressure? feed rate? thickness? distance? Thats why I like my new little friend, the common paint roller.

After spending the last month in studying and research, I now know the errors I made the first time around. Should have done that research up front. I've narrowed it down to my gun set up and my spray technique. My air pressure was too low, my air/material mix was too rich and my mix was too thick. I layed down too much, too fast. After spending the last 2 years doing a half a$$ decent job of laying down gallons of POR-15, chassis black and 2K primer I felt like I had a good handle on the painting thing. Well, top coat is a whole nuther beast, ain't it? Guess I got a little cocky and it brought me down to size real quick. I don't think I did any irreparable damage but I made a lot more work for myself than need be. Live and learn. Thanks for the comments and I'd like to hear ya'lls little tips and tricks you've learned the hard way.

Air pressure is the biggest issue that I seen folks have. Worse than that is trying a gun you have never used before and trying it out on something important. Had a friend of mine who was on his fourth try of a finish on a motorcycle and his gun sounded like a power washer. Too much pressure.

I think my problem was more not enough air. I'm using an HVLP gun and I was using my small HF compressor instead of my large compressor because the big one's regulator is broken. The gun is recommended 20-30 psi max. I didn't know how far over that I could go. The spray felt a little weak but I backed off on my material flow to compensate. Also the paint supplier recommended a 1.4mm tip and the closest I had was a 1.3. The combination of these resulting in a weakly spitting spray which gave me massive OP. In the future I'll use the larger compressor for more volume, push the pressure up just a tad, use a larger orifice, add a little more reducer, thin the spray out and apply more, lighter coats, and flashing a little more in between coats.
