sargentrs wrote:Thanks, Patrick! You're build's looking really good too and your body work is much better than mine. What does that foam tape do? Blend the edges so they don't leave a hard edge to sand down? I've got a little touch up to do and that would be cool.
Thanks but I'm not so sure about that! That's exactly what the tape does. I want to fit my doors and adjust the gaps evenly after painting the inside and jambs of the cab and doors and then use this tape around the doors when I paint the outside of the cab and doors. The tape absorbs some of the paint and feathers it slightly into the seams to blend it with the existing color inside the jambs. I'm sure there might be a little wet sanding to do but not as much as with regular tape. I know many people just paint the doors entirely and separately from the cab but I don't have a way to do that without building something...besides, I think I want to have the doors adjusted and tightened down for good before the fresh paint is on them. I can touch up a scratch in the door jamb if it happens a lot easier.

$40 seems a little steep to me too but I'm going to check locally to see if I can buy it by the foot from a paint supply shop first. I only want enough for the two doors.

Setting the doors before painting the outside is my plan too. I'd be interested to see if you find some cheaper so keep me posted. Thanks!

Had some left over aluminum flashing so I cut out some patches and laid down some RTV black and then screwed 'em down with sheet metal screws. Coated some bolts with anti-seize and put them in all threaded holes I wouldn't be using. I think I've got her sealed off pretty good.
mms_img777453122.jpg
Then laid down the Peel 'n Seal and capped off the seams with foil tape.
mms_img-760696884.jpg
All I can say is....I hope I never have to pull that stuff back up! Now on to the insulation.

Looks great Randy! I'm planning on using EZ Cool as well...what's the peel n' stick stuff? What's different about it vs. the EZ Cool? I was assuming that the EZ was all a guy needed. Also, how much did you use? I was trying to figure out how much to order. :D

Here's the Peel 'n Seal from Lowe's. http://www.lowes.com/pd_154017-81326-PS625_0__ It's about 1/16" thick and is a butyl rubber type of material with a foil backing.
mms_img1028775964.jpg
mms_img-1130733868.jpg
It's surprisingly clean though while still being sticky and leaves hardly any residue on your fingers. It's intended use is for roof/flashing repair. Do NOT get the similar stuff from Home Depot which is pretty nasty, gooey and "tarry". I ran out and HD is close to me while Lowe's is about 30 mins away so I bought the HD stuff to finish the back wall. It took 3 of the 6"x 25' rolls ($36.00) to do the floor + the back wall of the cab. I stuck a piece of the Peel 'n Seal to the floor and let it sit for a couple of weeks to test it's adhesive properties. I had to scrape it up with a razor scraper and broke a blade in the process. It trims easy with a razor knife and I capped off the seams with foil duct tape, one 500 yd roll ($8.00) will do it. The EZ Cool is a dense bubble type of material with foil on both sides.
mms_img1764228252.jpg
It's about 3/16" thick. The bubbles will pop with hard pressure between your fingers but, surprisingly, there's little difference in thickness afterwards. As I was laying it, I could feel/hear the bubbles pop when I was running my thumb down a crevice but not when I was mashing it down with my whole hand. I got a sample piece from them and submerged it in water for about an hour. Then I pulled it out and dried off the outside and let it hang down edgewise to see if any water dripped out from the inside. The bubbles are very densely packed and no water dripped back out so I feel pretty good about it not retaining moisture. I ordered one 5' x 10' (50 sq ft) roll for $33 + $8.50 S&H. It covered the cab floor and up the back wall with only scraps left. I did have to piece the last 12"x18" section but the bulk of the floor/wall were done in 4 large sections. I glued it down with 1 can of spray adhesive http://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-24-oz-Rub ... lfcddJ6Z2o It's some good stuff and had an adjustable width nozzle. Spray, let it tack, and press. I'll have to get some more of all to do the doors and roof. I purchased all the materials over a period of about 2 months so I didn't break my bank account all at once.

Took a few moments this morning to drill the holes, for my buckets, in the seat frame I made and test fit the Mustang buckets. Then had to pay my "honey dues" by pressure washing the house :x Also ground down the welds where the seats sit. Now it's ready for cleaning, POR-15 and gloss black :D

Does the EZ Cool have sticky back? I'm using the Frost King peel and stick hoping to help with the tin can sound and it seems to work good but seems to me i also need and insulation on top of that for sound barrier.

Sorry, i did not go further down to read about EZ Cool. I see you you had to purchase adhesive for the EZ Cool.
Good job Sarge!

Thanks, jimmy! The stuff I got at Home Depot, in the paint section, worked really well. The nozzle adjusted from stream to fan spray and it got tacky in seconds. Once it was stuck, it was stuck! A 24oz can did the whole floor but it nearly ran out on the last little piece. I'm real happy with the EZ Cool and you can't beat the price. I wanted to use the Frost King too but my Lowes didn't carry it so I wound up with the Peel n Seal.
