Dana

Post by Mancar1 »

I have the 68 Ford CS with the Dana 4:10 rear. Has anyone went to higher gears in a Dana? Just would like to let up on the gas at 65 and not get the, I just put the breaks on feeling. I know the gear choice with this set up is limited, and I can't get all that high, but is the diff worth it? :hmm: I am thinking 3:54 is as high as I can go. Talked to Driveline Service in Redding, and the tech said I would see about a 15% change with the 3:54 gears. Sound worth it?

I think you would have to change out the carrier. the 4:10 and 4:56 use one carrier and the 3;54 and 3;73ish use a different carrier. I would think you would notice a difference if you went from 4:10s to 3:73s so you would really notice a change from 4:10s to 3:50-somthings. do alot of hwy driving?

thanks for the reply 1972hiboy
80% is 50-60mph driving the rest is 70mph driving, so I may do it. The price I am told will be $900. to a high of $1600. Depending on whats what when the rear is opened up.
