Can I disconnect the water cooling lines to my 67 m/x cruise-o- and let it run air cooled without damaging the tranny ?

Around town light hauling. It's a lot of hose snaked around. Will it work fine being air cooled

Ford DESIGNED the transmission to be OIL cooled. It was not designed to be air cooled, so no way will your transmission last if you disconnect the lines.

If you want to replace/rebuild your transmission every few hundred miles, then leave the lines disconnected. HEAT is the biggest enemy for automatic transmissions. The hotter they run, the faster they burn up.

Agreed. There is no reason to run it air-cooled, and every reason NOT to. All auto trannies should be routing their fluid to a cooler of some sort (no experience with manual trannies, but I assume they are the same). :2cents:
