The tranny seal on my truck is leaking the one on the output shaft next to the Ujoint Just want to know how hard it is to fix can I take the four bolts out in front of the odometer cable
without anything unexpected happening. heres a picture. Don't know anything about tranny's Thanks C6

to just replace the seal, remove the driveshaft, then the nut that holds the rear yoke in place, pull out the yoke & your seal is right there, pry it out. To answer your question, yes you can remove the ex housing after removing what I mentioned, but you don't need to.....Donnie

...also, use some Brakeclean on the splines of the output shaft and on the splines of the bolt-on yoke, make sure it's oil free and dry then after the yoke is in place on the output shaft, run a bead of silicone where the splines join, before putting the yoke nut on. If not, the trans fluid will leak past the splines and past the nut.
