Got the cab support cut out, what a mess. Had to take a hose to clean out the other end of all the dirt/rocks/crud.

Noticed the rocker had rotted out where the floor support was, so, cut that out, made a patch, and welded it in.

Re: 1967 F-100 project
Got the new peice from Dennis Carpenter cut to size, had to do a litle finessing to get it to fit right. Of course, now I find that my weld-through primer has disappeared (kids, probably), so now I need to see if I can get some here in town, otherwise I'll have to order some more through Eastwood.

Re: 1967 F-100 project
Good news, found my weld-through primer. Support patch piece welded in. Now, just have to prep everything for a coat of epoxy primer, hopefully I'll get that shot this weekend, then I can tip the cab upright. I'm going to make a dolly out of 2x4's, a design I'm shamefully copying off of tylerb43. Should save me some room in the garage over the set up I have now.

After cleaing up the bottom of the cab, shot it with PPG epoxy primer. Nice having that all sealed up! Still debating on what to topcoat it with. I'll do the rockers with POR-15. I'll get to those as soon as I get the patch peice put in. I need to get the drivers side kick panel done first.

Kinda gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling don't it? Good work!

Re: 1967 F-100 project
Looks great so far. I like seeing body work like this; I learn a good bit through the pics.
I never understood why they didn't drill the floor support crossmember for drain holes at the ends. They all rot out right there from collecting mud, dirt, rats nests(like mine), and water. If/when I replace mine, I believe I'm going to drill about a 1" hole in the lower portions for better drainage. I'm probably going to do it to the factory ones also, so I can get the remaining rat funk out.

What I did, was make the gap at the ends of the support bigger, so water and crap can run right out. You can see the gap on the right side of the cab support. I agree, this wasn't thought out very well. I'm also going to spray in Eastwoods Inner frame coating in it tonight, to stop the rust inside.

Got the cab on the new dolly. Thanks to Tyler (tylerb43) for allowing me to shamelessly copy his design. Cab is now at the perfect height to work on most everything. I'll put up scaffold to work on the roof. Now, time to drill out the 133 spot welds, and get the cowl and dash off.

Awesome progress, buddy!! I know I've been absent from here the past few weeks, but man you've been killing it! The metal work looks great, and the dolly will be worth the time, I'm sure. Shameless indeed, I'm flattered that you used it.
Keep it up, man, I'm nervously anxious to see you take that cowl and dash off! Remind us again - is it just to clean behind it?

Re: 1967 F-100 project
Well, after much drilling (and drilling, and drilling, and drilling), the cowl is off. I'm really glad I did this, I had no idea how much rust was in here! Now, just have to get the dash drilled out, then get the floor and firewall sandblasted. Then, have to see if I can get that 79 dash fitted.

Re: 1967 F-100 project
Sorry, I missed this Tyler! I knew it was rusty under that cowl, and I was going to have to drill out along the windsheild ,to get the dash out anyway, since I'm going to go with the dash out of a 79.tylerb43 wrote:Awesome progress, buddy!! ugh... i'd rather pretend that it doesn't look like that inside my cowl and behind my A pillars... ignorance is bliss.
