to shorten or lengthen. ..that's the question
Replaced the 390/3 speed with a 5.0 5 speed, have a long bed 68 Ranger, wondering what's the best route, shorten the short driveshaft (don't know the correct term) or extend the long shaft and have a single drive shaft......whats the best route?

The best course to take is to shorten the shorter of the two driveshafts.

shorten the front half, otherwise you'll have to move the mount for the steady bearing

If it's under 5 feet use a single, over 5 ft use two piece.
You can use single over 5', but it's less than ideal and can be really bad if the driveline shop uses crappy tube.
