tailshaft bushing and yokewere replaced less than a year ago and still feels good. but you are right about sounds transmitting through ds. thats whats throwing me off . one minute im convinced its in trans then the next min i swear its in the diff. i swear you can hear the bearings and noise in the middle of the ds.i rebuilt the 3 speed couple of years ago and with ds removed and a spare yoke in there it appears to be quiet through the gears. it still could be cheap u joints. ive been using precision brand from oreillys. i will know for sure in a day or two when driveline shop finishes with it.

ok so you have removed the drive shaft and ran though the gears in your 3 speed? and no noise? if not try that, since it couldnt be the trans tail shaft cause you replaced the bushing. if thats the case then its the DS. unless you think the noise wouldnt come from the 3speed unless under a load? <---- thats probably a retarded statement  but man this is a tough one  lol

its a vibe im after. but while searching out the culprit ive discovered a knocking sound in the driveline. with truck running on stands you can hear it through ds. should be getting ds back from shop today for balancing.if vibe and noise is still evident after balancing ill know its in rear or tranny.i was telling craiger with ds removed the tranny sounds smooth. who know with it under a load .

Why not take your rear wheels off, put your drums back on & run it on stand's --see what you feel
If you think about it, starting with the front of the trans, thru the gear train , into the rear, thru the spyder & axle gears, add the ring & pinion. all the splines that are involved, you probably have about .200 play in the whole works....are you running oversize tires?
Do you hear this noise when pulling under load, on the road? or just on jack stands? .......Donnie
