neutral saftey switch and back up lite switch

Post by danno »

Where in H____ do you mount the safety switch and backup lite switch on a C-4 tranny. I changed my truck from standard to automatic and all I have left to do is put a safety switch and back up lite switch on and cant find wear to mount it or maybe I don't have the right switches, Its a 74 c-4 tranny and steering column with shifter on the column. Please Help :?

Are you saying you have a '74 Column? The bump side NSS is located near the bottom of the column inside the cab.

Ford changed the safety switch location to be internal to the transmission sometime after 1972. Some using later model columns with early model transmissions have modified the column for a safety switch. Seems to me that you could hook up to the internal switch in the transmission. I have not seen any diagrams of the later model transmissions and where the switch is located.

I have several tilt columns to install and will cross this problem later.

Yes its a 74 column, I look all over for the NSS but I cant fine a place to mount the one I got for it, It looks like it mounts to the column but no screw holes or nothing like that. and back up lite switch hooks up with the NSS harness
