overdrive help

i can hear my overdrive solenoid clicking but my overdrive does not engage. once or twice it has made a real low grinding noise when it tries to engage! anybody have an idea whats wrong with it?

Pull the solenoid and check actual operation. I'm not sure what OD you're working with, but I used to work at Gear Vendors and solenoid click does not always mean it is operating correctly.
