So I was perusing the list that is craigs and found this transmission that is supposed to be out of a 64 f250. These are the numbers he found stamped on the case c-96391-p. The best I could find was those numbers are tied to an np435 but did i didn't think that they made 4 speeds that early. Am i wrong?
I attached the pic that he posted for your viewing pleasure. I checked out the article on here about identification and i'm thinking i'll have to drive up there to get a look at it to know for sure. I was hoping someone may be able to help me out and possibly save me an hour or so drive that might end up wasting my time. Thanks for any help or advice.

If that number is stamped on the case, it is meaningless. If it is cast into the case, you definitely have a New Process built transmission, but your picture is not clear enough to positively identify it as a 435, 445, 540, or some other NP transmission.

New pic! He did say it was 8 bolts and looked to be aluminum top cover. I'm not sure about the top cover being aluminum as it looks pretty dirty however the numbers he gave me look to be cast into the case. Thoughts? I guess the file is too large but there are definately castings and not a tag.
