Pulling Motor, C6 Out Together - Will Drive Shaft...

Post by texasjammer1 »

Hey everyone,

This is my first time pulling a motor, tranny... I was thinking that the drive shaft should just come out of the tranny as I pull the motor and tranny out... Is that a fair assumption on my part of is there something I need to do with the drive shaft before hand?

Appreciate you looking and reply if you do...

Some C6 transmissions have a slip yoke at the back while others are a bolt-on driveshaft flange. Better look at it more closely...

I would strongly recommend removing the driveshaft before pulling the motor and tranny. Make a paint mark on the side of the driveshaft and tranny tailshaft so you can get everything lined up properly for re-installation. Also do the same for the driveshaft and rear end yoke.

:yt: the transmission tends to spill oil out of the rear/tail when the slip yoke is removed, or from the hole for the speedometer cable.. :fr:
