Post by NATHANHASNORIDE »

I know this isn't the place for this but i figured since were all friends yall could help.I have a 84 mustang with a fx tranny with a shift kit.I was on the interstate and I floored it at about 55mph and it didn't drop down a gear.So my question is do these trannys have a passing gear and how do I hook it up?

ford uses a kick down rod that hook to the carb linkage and the transmission linkage. yours is probably missing.

He's probably right. It may be disconnected at the tranny or the carb.

Let me get with my tranny wizz buddy. I'll get back to you.

I had an 88 Volvo with EFI and the kickdown was a cable to the trans off the throttle cable linkage.

Its carburated and there isn't a kickdown it looks like the only thing that goes down to my tranny from the engine bay is the dipstick and a big vacum hose.

The guy said that it has a fx tranny but i have never heard of a fx ford tranny so i thought maybe its a fmx?

I have been reading and it turns out that the shift kit thats in my tranny can be shifted manualy and can hold any gear at any rpm so i'll just shift it myself.

How can I tell if my 4bbl is opening? Also it is running real rich how do I lean it out?

Thanks,
