D44 doesn't have kingpins.

Yes they do. Early 70's and older 1/2 ton were open knuckle KINGPIN, not balljoint.70_F100 wrote:D44 doesn't have kingpins.

The kingpins or caps are usually fine, you probably just need the trunnion bearings and races to replace ones that are toast.

On a 4x4, that's not possible.
Edit: I guess Dana called the top and bottom pins "kingpins".

I actually have a 1969 f100 4x4 with a high pinion Dana 44, coils, and the open kingpin style knuckles. I want to do an axle swap so I've got discs in the front. I wish I could just swap knuckles but that's apparently not possible as they switched to ball joints. My question is, what years are compatible? Is it the 1976-1979 f100s or broncos that have the front axle I need? any help would be much appreciated.
