Re: rear end
The pinion angle needs to be the same at the trans output and rear end's pinion to avoid a driveline vibration. The second purpose is for the needle bearings to actually roll in the caps. See, if they don't roll then they will wear in the same spot and the life of the u-joint will be severely shortened because of lack of lubrication and, you guessed it, always rolling in the same spot over and over and over again.
To determine the pinion angle, measure the angle at the trans output and the pinion before performing modifications like the axle flip. To correct, first figure out what the resulting angle is and then order some leaf spring shims.. they look like wedges (or doorstops)..

Re: rear end
It will fit but it just won't be a direct bolt in. Thslayton67 wrote:Im putting a 82 ford 9 inch in my 67 and im wondering if it will fit im flipping the axle and i wanna know how to do the correct pinion angle and wats the purpose for it?
e spring pads need to be moved but I assume that you will be moving the pads anyway since your flipping the axle.
