Looks great Randy! Keep it up!
I so wish I could make it to the F100 Supernationals this year and meet some of you guys! Last year I said, "okay, next year I'm going!!" But, my son is only a few weeks old, (first one) so we're still doing a lot of life-adjusting ourselves, so a trip like that is probably not a good idea at the moment. Oh well - next year!
You guys better have a blast and report back to all of us here that couldn't make it!

Thanks Tyler! Coming from you that's a big compliment. Wish you could make it too. By that time your son will love the show.tylerb43 wrote:Looks great Randy! Keep it up!

I was refering to the area between the front and back of the rotor or inside the rotor. The first time I painted mine...I masked them off just like you did and forgot to paint that sectionsargentrs wrote:Are you referring to these? http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detai ... &ppt=C006467mann wrote:Don't forget the finn's not that I would have known to say that

Is there a timeline yet for an assembled truck? I have been watching patiently waiting. So far everything I see looks great.

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild
Thanks elge! If my family would quit cutting into my "bump fund" it would go a lot faster! Life's little emergencies have seriously hindered my progress. I'm being conservative when I say Summer 2014. Hopefully sooner. I need about 3 grand worth of major purchases and another 2K of nickel/dime stuff. No sense in getting in a hurry when I can't do anything about it. Between this Thursday and next Wed (taking vacation from work), I intend to finish the front and rear running gear, install the p/s gear box and engine perches and get some wheels and tires on it so I can roll it out of the garage and wash all the dust and pollen off the frame. Then gut the cab, sand it down, strip the floor and spray some POR-15 and black paint on the floor and bottom and start prepping the cab for primer. At least that's the goal. Slow and steady wins the race!elgemcdlf wrote:Is there a timeline yet for an assembled truck? I have been watching patiently waiting. So far everything I see looks great.

That's a fact (on the slow & steady). What are you planning on using for sound deadening & heat shield? I am thinking about Lizard Skin when I get to that point. Kinda hoping to find someone who has used it so I can get some feedback prior to going that route.

I'll probably go with Robroy and Terry1167's writeup on the Zillamat installation http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =6&t=59182 Looks good, within my budget and they're threads already show me how. Nothing like having a work instruction! Thanks guys!elgemcdlf wrote:That's a fact (on the slow & steady). What are you planning on using for sound deadening & heat shield? Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild
Made a little progress today between running errands and babysitting a grand young'un. First, put new axle seals in. Started to just tap 'em in with a hammer but realized I couldn't do it without damaging them so I went to my local parts store and borrow a seal driver set. Gotta get me one of those!
Smeared a little oil around the seal rubber and coated the axle with a thin coat. Slid the brake assembly on and the new gasket and carefully slid the axle into the housing being careful not to drag it across the seal. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild
Got the spline into the differential and with a little wiggle and twist it slid right in. Slid the bolts in, put new lock nuts on and torqued it down.
Grabbed my freshly painted and turned drums, adjusted the brake shoes out to just barely touch the drum and slid the drums on. Tomorrow I'll get the e-brake cables hooked up to the equalizer and start on the front end.You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild
Started on the front yesterday and finished up this afternoon. After putting new bolts in the axle pivot bushings and then bolted the radius arm to the I-beam and just snugged it so it would still swing.
Then slid the large cupped washer and first polygraphite bushing on the end of the radius arm. Then slid the end of the radius arm into the bracket, added the other bushing, washer and castle nut and eased in on the nut till I was sure the small end of the bushings were in the bracket, then snugged it down. I didn't torque everything yet 'cause I wanted to make sure it all lined up.You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild
Then turned my attention to the other end. Torqued down the first nut on the I-beam and set the lower spring seat in place.
Set the coil spring onto the seat, put a floor jack under the I-beam and jacked it up until the top of the coil seated into the upper seat, making sure the top coil was in the recess of the bracket. Grabbed the upper retainer bracket and installed it to hold the top of the coil in place. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: '70 Sport Custom Rebuild
While I had the I-beam supported, I installed the big washer on the lower spring seat, lock nut and torqued it down. Now I can remove the floor jack and turn my attention to the rotor/hub assemblies.
