So I got this cool truck, now what?

Post by kf7mjf »

Got this 67 Camper Special. 2wd, inline six, manual steering, four speed, nothing horribly special, other than being fairly solid and nice and straight. A bit of cancer in the metal here and there, but nothing that can't be fixed. Really, once I clean her up and get some paint and cosmetic body work done, I'm not quite sure what to do with the old beast.

Heh.... variety! And twice as much project to work with for half the price. 68-72 parts are cheaper and easier to find... um... cops like pulling over red vehicles... um... 8 lugs are better than 5? ummm... check out this pocket watch... you're getting sleepy... very sleepy....

I'm friends with local cops. And I know jack and sh*t about old Ford trucks. Am I to suppose I lucked into something good here? Did I mention it runs? And has new tires and brakes?

1967's are pretty much one year only. Because of all the 'new' federal regulations... 67 is the only year without reflectors, the doors are different inside because they don't have the mandated safety latches, the ashtray is different, the radio is smaller, the heater is pull knobs instead of the slider controls, the grill is one year only... the internal hood bracing is different... so... yeah, if someone wanted to restore something, a 67 would end up more special and more valuable. If someone just wanted to fix something up, 68-72 are cheaper for the special bits... and modifying?? well modifying a 68-72, instead of a 67 just seems to be a more humane thing to do...

Do my eyes deceive me or are there really NO cracks in that steering wheel? Congratulations and great find!

Sadly there are cracks in that steering wheel, they just aren't showing in the pic.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't the truck pictured a 100 & weren't all Camper Specials 250s or larger?
